Bakers Basco is continuing its push toward sustainability by recovering thousands of reusable bakery delivery items from festivals, outdoor events, and public venues across the UK. The company has intensified efforts to prevent valuable equipment from being discarded, misused, or sent to landfill, supporting a more circular approach to resource management.

The initiative focuses on recovering bread baskets and wheeled dollies that are often mistakenly used by event vendors, caterers, and organisers. According to Bakers Basco, nearly 50,000 items have been recovered from outdoor event sites since the awareness campaign began in 2022, highlighting the scale of the issue and the importance of industry collaboration.

Working alongside organisations such as the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF), the company has increased site visits, introduced awareness campaigns, and expanded the use of GPS tracking technology to locate missing equipment. These measures have significantly improved recovery rates while reducing unnecessary waste and replacement manufacturing.

Bakers Basco says its reusable equipment is designed to remain in circulation for years, making recovery a key part of reducing environmental impact. The company plans to continue working with event organisers and suppliers to ensure valuable resources are reused rather than discarded, supporting broader sustainability goals across the events sector.
