Coventry’s Visitor Economy Surpasses £1 Billion, Driven by Events and Tourism

Coventry’s visitor economy has reached a significant milestone, generating more than £1 billion for the city’s local economy during 2025.

According to new figures based on the STEAM Economic Impact Model, Coventry welcomed around 12.6 million visitors last year. This represents a 6.5% increase in visitor numbers compared with the previous year, while the economic value generated by tourism and visitors increased by 9.3% to £1.009 billion.

Events, entertainment, sport and cultural activities played an important role in attracting visitors. Major concerts featuring artists including Tom Grennan, Bob Dylan and Ed Sheeran, alongside sporting and international events, contributed to the city's growing visitor activity.

The conference and events sector also recorded strong growth, with venues reporting increases in both revenue and delegate numbers.

Tourism growth is also supporting employment. The visitor economy contributed to approximately 8,330 full-time jobs in 2025, an increase of 2.6% year over year.

While day visitors accounted for most visits, overnight visitors generated a much larger share of overall economic value. This highlights an opportunity for Coventry to encourage more visitors to stay longer.

With its expanding events calendar and growing profile, Coventry's visitor economy continues to create opportunities for the city's hospitality, tourism and events sectors.
