The recent Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) 2025 Conference brought over 200 event professionals together at Warwick Conferences in Coventry to explore how creativity and human insight remain central in an increasingly AI‑influenced world. Themed “What’s Next?”, the event featured expert speakers and panel discussions that highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into the events industry.

Opening the conference, futurist William Higham reminded attendees that uncertainty has always been part of the events sector, and creativity is what draws people in. He emphasized the importance of personalization in crafting experiences that resonate, even with large audiences.

AI was a key topic throughout the day, not as a replacement for human effort but as a tool to enhance it. AI strategist Katie King underscored that technology should act behind the scenes while humans drive tone, style, and emotional connection. According to her, the future of events lies not in artificial intelligence alone, but in emotional intelligence, where human creativity remains indispensable.

Panel discussions also addressed practical AI applications, including ways it can streamline tasks and reduce burnout, while cautioning against over‑automation that might limit developmental opportunities for emerging talent.
