Europe’s Arenas Lead the Way in Sustainability with Greener Certifications for 2025

In a significant step toward environmental responsibility in the live events sector, a number of major arenas across Europe have been recognised for their sustainability efforts in 2025. Organisations from the UK, Belgium and beyond have successfully achieved certification under the AGF (A Greener Future) framework, reflecting growing commitment to greener operations and reduced environmental impacts.

Among the arenas honoured this year, Forest Green Rovers FC’s The New Lawn in the UK earned an “Outstanding” rating thanks to its ongoing sustainability work. Other venues, including Manchester’s Co‑op Live and Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, received high commendations, with additional certifications awarded to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, London’s ABBA Voyage, and AsiaWorld‑Expo in Hong Kong. These certificates are awarded after a rigorous evaluation process that looks at factors such as energy use, waste management, community engagement, and more.

AGF’s framework aims to drive continuous improvement in arena operations, encouraging venues to adopt cleaner energy practices and more sustainable event management. The recognition highlights a broader industry shift toward eco‑friendly practices, helping the live events sector reduce its carbon footprint while still delivering high‑quality experiences for audiences.
