Google has unveiled a new AI feature in Gmail that simplifies adding events to Google Calendar. Utilizing the Gemini AI bot, Gmail now detects emails containing event details and offers an "Add to Calendar" button. Clicking this button opens a sidebar for users to confirm or edit event information before it's added to their calendar.

This enhancement builds upon Google's previous capabilities of extracting events from specific email types. The AI-driven approach aims to make scheduling more efficient by reducing manual entry. The feature is currently rolling out to Workspace business, enterprise, and education users, as well as Google One AI Premium subscribers.

In testing, the feature accurately identified multiple events within a single email, prompting users for confirmation before adding them to the calendar. However, the anticipated edit button in the sidebar was not present; instead, users could access and modify event details directly in Google Calendar.

This development signifies Google's commitment to integrating AI into its productivity tools, enhancing user experience by streamlining routine tasks.
