IMEX America has unveiled its 2024 Sustainability Report, spotlighting several meaningful eco-friendly advancements as the global events industry eyes greener practices. The report, developed in collaboration with consultancy MeetGreen®, covers the full lifecycle of the event from planning to on-site execution and highlights initiatives that blend tangible results with industry leadership.

Among the standout measures: a new fleet of five electric shuttle buses for attendee transport; a switch from plastic to fully paper badge holders; and catering services offering exclusively beef-free menus, yielding a 39% reduction in related food-service emissions compared to 2023. Notably, the show maintained its zero-waste status for the sixth year in a row, diverting over 90% of waste from landfills.

IMEX CEO Carina Bauer emphasizes that true progress comes from small, consistent changes. The report doesn’t shy away from areas needing improvement like material usage and charitable outreach but underscores its role as a practical guide for planners aiming to elevate sustainable event design through incremental updates.
